It was disrespectful to our fans, ourselves and our family to go out and perform that way.” Drew Brees throws for 179 yards and two touchdowns as the Saints build a 31-0 lead during the first half. The inept Raiders have only three first downs and 60 total yards during the first two quarters. For the game, the Saints out-gain the Raiders a whopping 536 yards to 289. Oakland avoids the shutout when Jeff Garcia throws a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Holland with 6:06 remaining. PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:
Saints defense — In a dominanting first half, the Saints hold the Raiders to no points, 60 total yards (including a net 1 yard rushing) and three first downs. RB P.J. Hill — The rookie from Wisconsin rushes for 82 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns.
QB Jeff Garcia — Is 9-of-15 passing for 111 yards and a TD for a 105.1 rating. QB JaMarcus Russell — Not bad numbers (12-of-18 passing for 153 yards and no interceptions), but he doesn't generate any points in nine possessions and coughs up a fumble at the Saints' 33.
