Panthers 17, Raiders 6

FLASH RECAP:
DeAngelo Williams rushes for 140 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting Carolina (7-2) to a victory over Oakland (2-7) before an announced crowd of 47,888 at the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum on Nov. 9, 2008.

With two field goals, kicker Sebastien Janikowski becomes the Raiders franchise points leader. Janikowski has 865 points in his ninth season, surpassing George Blanda's record of 863 points from 1967 to 1975.

The Raiders defense has one of its strongest games of the season, intercepting Jake Delhomme four times and surrendering only 219 total net yards (69 coming on a Williams 69-yard TD run).

The Oakland offense flounders, converting only 2 of 17 third-down tries, allowing five sacks and gaining 259 total net yards on 17 possessions.

Oakland’s Andrew Walter, making his first start since 2006, is 14-of-32 passing for 143 yards and 2 interceptions. Delhomme is 7-of-27 passing for 72 yards with the aforementioned 4 interceptions.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Carolina
DE Julius Peppers — Has three of Carolina’s five sacks and 7 solo tackles.
RB DeAngelo Williams — Has a game-high 140 rushing yards on 19 carries. He breaks four tackles on a 69-yard TD run late in the second quarter.
WR Mushin Muhammed — Catches a 3-yard TD pass from Jake Delhomme four plays after Adam Seawrd recovers a Johnnie Lee Higgins fumble at the Oakland 16 on the game’s opening kickoff.

Oakland
K Sebastian Janikowski — Surpasses George Blanda as Raiders franchise scoring leader with a 45-yard field goal in the third quarter. Janikowski finishes 2-of-3 in field goal tries. His only miss is a 58-yard attempt that strikes the right upright.
Oakland defense — The until allows only 7 completions, has 4 interceptions and surrenders 219 total net yards (162 rushing, 57 passing).
S Rashard Baker — Gets his first two interceptions of the season after replacing Stanford Routt at nickel back.

KEY STATS:
The Panthers' Jake Delhomme is intercepted four times, includding twice by S Rashad Baker. Delhomme entered the game with only five interceptions on 231 passing attempts.


The Raiders score only six points despite having the football for 37:02.

DID YOU KNOW?:
The Panthers’ Jake Delhomme is only the second quarterback since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to throw four interceptions, complete less than 30 percent of his passes (7 of 27 for 72 yards) and win a game, according to Stats LLC. Cincinnati’s Ken Anderson is the other, completing 4 of 19 passes for 75 yards in a 14-10 win over the Raiders on Oct. 19, 1975.
