Chiefs 56, Raiders 31

FLASH RECAP:
Jamaal Charles sets an NFL running back record with four TD catches and also runs for a score to equal Kansas City's single-game record for touchdowns as the Chiefs rout the Raiders on Dec. 15, 2013 before an annouced crowd of 49,571 at O.co Coliseum.

Charles' 195 receiving yards on eight catches is the third-most prolific performance by a running back since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.

The Raiders (4-10) set a single-game franchise record for most points allowed, breaking the previous record of 55 points. The most recent time was a 55-20 loss at the Baltimore Ravens during the 2012 season.

Kansas City's 56 points are three shy of the Chiefs record of 59 set in 1963 at Denver.

The Chiefs (11-3) become the fourth team in NFL history to make the playoffs a year after losing at least 14 games. The Raiders are eliminated from playoff contention with their fourth straight loss.

The Chiefs intercept Oakland's Matt McGloin four times and Terrelle Pryor once, and recover two Raiders fumbles. Kansas City scores 28 points off of seven Oakland turnovers.

Trailing 35-10 late in the second quarter, the Raiders score three unanswered touchdowns on a Rashad Jennings' 1-yard run and McGloin TD passes in the third quarter to Andre Holmes (6 yards) and Mychal Rivera (14 yards).

Charles' 71-yard catch-and-run on a wheel route for his fifth TD gives Kansas City a 42-31 advatange late in the third quarter.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Kansas City
RB Jamaal Charles — Scores on three screen passes that cover 49, 39 and 16 yards to go along with a 71-yard catch-and-run for a TD. He also scores on a 1-yard run. Charles has a modest 20 rushing yards on eight carrries.

QB Alex Smith — Is 17 of 20 passing for 287 yards and five TDs without an interception and a perfect passer rating of 153.8.

S Eric Berry — His 47-yard interception return for a TD in the second quarter ties a team record with the 11th return score of the season. Charles' 49-yard interception return sets up the final Kansas City TD.

Oakland
QB Matt McGloin — His five turnovers are instrumental in Oakland's loss but he is also 18 of 36 passing for 297 yards and two TDs. McGloin completes passes of 20 or more yards to six different receivers. His two third-quarter scoring passes narrows the deficit to 35-31.

RB Rashad Jennings — Has 91 rushing yards on 23 carries and two TDs, both on 1-yard runs.

FB Marcel Reece — Completes his first NFL pass, a 22-yarder to Chidi Chekwa, out of punt formation on fourth-and-5 during the second quarter. Reece also has a career-best 45-yard reception and finishes with 18 rushing yards on five carries.

KEY STATS:
With 215 total yards against Oakland, Kansas City's Jamaal Charles joins Shaun Alexander, Jerry Rice and Clinton Portis as the only players since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to score five touchdowns and gain at least 200 yards from scrimmage in a single game. His eight catches for 195 yards and four touchdowns is the most productive receiving day by a running back since the St. Louis Rams' Marshall Faulk had 204 yards in 1999 against Chicago.

The Chiefs score 28 points off of five turnovers (4 INTs, INT) by the Raiders' Matt McGloin.
Safety Eric Berry returns a Matt McGloin interception 47 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, the 11th time this season that Kansas City gets a TD from its defense or special teams. The only teams in NFL history with more non-offense generated TDs are the 1998 Seahawks (13) and the 2010 Cardinals (12).
Alex Smith's five touchdown passes against the Raiders reportedly travel 13 yards down field with 168 yards after the catch.

THEY SAID IT:
"We get paid out there to play, we get paid out there to not let these guys light up the scoreboard the way they did. They did, in fact, what we didn’t want them to do. We have no one to blame but ourselves.”

Raiders CB Tracy Porter

"I didn’t do much. I mean three screens for touchdowns. I’ve never been a part of anything like that or seen that. Pretty special. Those guys making me look good."

Chiefs QB Alex Smith

"Some of those throws were poor decisions. I wish I had thrown the ball away a few times today. I’ll learn from it.”

Raiders QB Matt McGloin
