OAKLAND RAIDERS RAP

Raiders 20, Chiefs 17

FLASH RECAP:
Sebastian Janikowski kicks a 43-yard field goal with 25 seconds remaining to give Oakland a come-from-behind victory over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Oct. 15, 2000. Rich Gannon throws for 244 yards and two touchdowns to rally the Raiders from a 17-7 deficit at halftime. Oakland wins its second straight game at Arrowhead Stadium after dropping the previous 11 (including a playoff loss in 1991).

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland
QB Rich Gannon -- Completes 28 of 33 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Hits five straight passes for 49 yards on Oakland's game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
K Sebastian Janikowski -- After missing seven of his first 13 attempts this season, The Polish Cannon drills consecutive field goals of 47 and 43 yards. The first field goal narrows Oakland's deficit to 17-10 on the opening drive of the second half. After the Raiders drive to the Chiefs' 25 with 30 seconds left, Janikwoski nails the game-winner.
WR Tim Brown -- Has five catches for 89 yards. Sets up an Oakland touchdown early in the fourth quarter with a 32-yard reception to the Kansas City 3 on fourth-and-one.
RB Tyrone Wheatley -- Rushes for a game-high 76 yards and has four receptions for 37 yards. Scores the tying touchdown on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Rich Gannon with 9:25 left in regulation.

Kansas City
TE Tony Gonzalez -- Has seven catches for 100 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown during the second quarter.
QB Elvis Grbac -- Throws for 288 yards and two touchdowns, but can't produce any points during the second half (when he's 8-of-18 passing for 104 yards).
LB Donnie Edwards -- Has a game-high 16 total tackles.
DE John Browning -- Contributes a sack and fumble recovery.

GOAT OF THE GAME:
Kansas City wide receiver Sylvester Morris loses a fumble at the end of a 13-yard catch midway through the fourth quarter after being tackled by Oakland cornerback Charles Woodson and free safety Anthony Dorsett. Woodson recovers the ball at the Raiders' 12, preserving a 17-17 tie.

The Raiders move 64 yards in eight plays, culminated by Sebastian Janikowski tiebreaking 43-yard field goal with 25 seconds left.

BY THE NUMBERS:

  • 1: Passes caught by Oakland CB Charles Woodson, who had an 8-yard reception on the game's opening drive.
  • 2: Timeouts lost by Kansas City when its instant-replay challenges were denied.
  • 5.1: Yards per carry by Oakland RB Tyrone Wheatley on 15 rushes. He averaged 2.9 yards per rush in his first five games this season.

With five catches against the Chiefs, the Raiders' Tim Brown becomes the eighth player in NFL history to reach 800 career receptions. He ranks eighth on the all-time list with 801 catches for 885 yards. Brown needs 14 more receptions to pass Henry Ellard (814) and 19 to overtake Steve Largent (819).
