Raiders 26, Browns 24

FLASH RECAP:
Tommy Kelly blocks Phil Dawson's 40-yard field goal attempt on the game's final play as Oakland escapes with a victory over Cleveland before an announced crowd of 51,057 at McAfee Coliseum on Sept. 23, 2007.

The Raiders (1-2) end an 11-game losing streak and win for only the third time in the past 25 regular-season games. Before beating the Browns, the Raiders were 2-22 in their past 24 games.

Oakland scores nine straight points in the second half to erase a 17-16 Cleveland lead. Browns QB Derek Anderson scores on a 1-yard run and then Cleveland (1-2) forces an Oakland punt near midfield with 1:14 left.

After Anderson drives the Browns 69 yards to the Oakland 22, Dawson’s first 40-yard field goal attempt with 3 seconds left sails through the uprights.

What appears to be the winning field goal doesn’t count because Raiders coach Lane Kiffin calls a timeout before the snap.

In a Raiders loss at Denver the previous week, a Sebastian Janikowski 52-yard field goal in overtime is negated because of a timeout called by Broncos coach Mike Shanahan. Janikowski misses his second attempt and Denver goes on to beat Oakland.

"Oh yeah, I learned from Mike. Thanks, Mike," Kiffin tells reporters after Oakland’s win over Cleveland.

PRIME-TIME PLAYERS:

Oakland

LB Kamerion Wimbley — Contributes two sacks and a forced fumble.
KR Joshua Cribbs — Returns a Sebastian Janikowski kickoff 99 yards for Cleveland's first TD.

TURNING POINT:
After the Browns take their only lead at 17-16 early in the third period, the Raiders score 9 unanswered points for a 26-17 advantage with 8:11 left in the fourth period. LaMont Jordan scores on a 1-yard run and Sebastain Janikowski kicks a 48-yard field goal, his fourth of the game, to elevate Oakland.

THEY SAID IT:
"We got them, just like Denver got us. What are the odds of that? You could have a heart attack if you go through many games like this. This was one of those games you would have hated to lose."

Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha

"We played terribly offensively. We made a lot of mistakes. It's disappointing."

Browns QB Derek Anderson

"I've been on the other end of that, too. I appreciate (cheers), but my focus is just to go out there and do what it takes to help this team win."

Raiders QB Daunte Culpepper
