File For Relocation The Raiders are expected to file for relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas, according to an NFL Media report on Jan. 14, 2017. If 23 of the 31 other owners approve the move, the Las Vegas Raiders will become a reality. Twenty-four votes are required to approve the move while only nine votes are needed to block the move. The league, the team and taxpayer commitment will share the cost of the projected $1.9 billion stadium in Las Vegas. Last year, lawmakers in Nevada approved $750 million for the project. Raiders owner Mark Davis has pledged $5 million. The Raiders reportedly have made arrangements to play in Oakland in the 2017 and 2018 seasons while the Las Vegas stadium is being built.
